A Targeted Approach

In collaboration with government and the private sector, actively pursue the development of a regional Cypress Creek Watershed flood reduction/environmental preservation plan designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Flooding: Research and advocate flood damage reduction measures implemented in advance of urban development on a cost-effective basis.

  • Preservation: Promote park, recreational, forest, and wildlife habitat development consistent with the preservation of the watershed’s natural environment.

  • Education: Enhance communication links between the government and the private sector on matters concerning the Coalition’s mission and objectives.

It is intended to be used as a source of information to assist neighborhood communities located in the Cypress Creek Watershed and elsewhere develop awareness, analyze risks and plan methods for dealing with storm water flooding and preservation of forested floodplain corridors. No information should be considered as being completely accurate nor warranted for any purpose. The Cypress Creek Flood Control Coalition is a participating Project Impact partner pledged to support developing a more disaster –resistant community in Harris County and surrounding area.
